Best Things to do When You Transit Singapore Airport


Singapore Changi Airport is one of the best in the world providing excellent facilities to all passengers. Take a free Changi Airport Information Guide at the time of your arrival, it contains information about the various facilities. I am going to feature some of them here.

At Transit Lounge, Duty Free Shopping is the highlight; branded cosmetics can be as mush as 40% lower than retail selling prices. Besides, the Airport DFS offers great discount for all merchandises from branded apparels to the latest IT gadgets. They accept major credit cards and if you wish to pay in cash, many shops accept multiple currencies that follow daily exchange rate of the day.


Free Internet and wireless are available throughout Changi Airport. 15 minutes access time at all Internet terminals. If you have a personal laptop and would like to use the service, registration is required but there is no limit for access time.

Cafes and restaurants serving International cuisine as well as local food at reasonable prices. Local cafes such as "Ah Kun" serving authentic local food. Try their Kaya Toast and coffee. Kaya is a local bread spread made of Pandan Leaves, sugar and egg yolk. It is one of the local favorites for breakfast. Another dish that is a must try is called "Laksa", it is a rice noodle dish served with a thick coconut milk soup base.

Next to the cafes, there are TV programs and movie screening with comfortable seats. You can simply purchase a beer or coffee to go, then sit back and relax, enjoy the free to air television programs! It is also a very popular place for passengers catching a short rest.

For mothers and small children, playground and nursing rooms at all the three terminals of Singapore Changi Airport. The nursing rooms are well equipped with diaper changing facilities, hot water and washing basins. Free cartooning screening for children as well as the young at hearts.

To freshen up, there is a gym and shower place as well as a swimming pool. Charges are applicable.

For relaxation, there is a spa and a hair salon locating at Terminal 1 Transit Lounge next to the entrance of the Airport Transit Hotel.

For a better rest, the Singapore Airport Transit Hotel provides excellent services like hotel rooms and relaxation facilities, locating at all the three Singapore Airport terminals. Charges are reasonable and it is a very popular Transit hotel. Make a reservation 3-4 weeks before your arrival to avoid disappointment.


If you have more than 5 hours, consider a free Singapore City Tour by Changi Airport. Approach the Visitors Center counters for registration. There are 2 routes: the cultural and historical, each will take about 2 hours. Free Tourist bus shuttle tourists from the airport to the tourist attractions. To join the city tour, make sure you have a valid Singapore entry visa (if applicable). Check out the Singapore Immigration Authority Website for Visa requirements.
